Go Fly a Kite

March 13, 2013 by Trina 5 Comments

The title today has nothing to do with my outfit and everything to do with the weather we had on Sunday:  WINDY!   A kite would have been a nice little accessory but I just about needed both hands to keep my hair out of my face.  ;)

Oh well!

I mentioned on Monday my new sponsor, Very Jane.  This is where I picked up the extra long tank you see peeking out from under this open knit tunic/dress.  These are so versatile because you can wear them stretched all the way down, or ruched up.  I love them.  I ordered them in black, white and red.

ootd031013_2dress/tunic:  The Pink Pearl Boutique; tank: Very Jane; basic black tights; shoes: ShoeMint (new members get 20% off your first pair with code 20LUVUS); necklace: Belk clearance rack; ring: Jewelmint (new members get your first piece for $8.99 with code PIECE8); watch: Michael Kors (gift from hubby)

New Sponsor: Very Jane

March 10, 2013 by Trina 4 Comments

Hi friends!  Today I’m excited to introduce a new sponsor to you, Very Jane.  I found out about them through a Twitter friend (thanks, Kati!) and have been addicted ever since.  Over the past few weeks I’ve ordered some extra long tanks for me, which you’ll see in my outfit post this week, and these Tom’s inspired leopard print shoes for Rayna.

Aren’t they cute?!  When these were on the site, they sold out in less than 2 hours.  So glad I was able to pick some up!

Ok, so in case you’ve never heard of Very Jane, they are a daily boutique sale site with lots of cute things for young and old alike.  I seriously have to watch myself or I’d be ordering once a day.

Here’s a sampling of some of the items they offer:

Scarves, tunics, jewelry, hairbows and tutus, and even monogrammed/personalized items.  I love boutique items, but I love them even more at these daily deal prices!

Hop on over to Very Jane and check out today’s sales….you’ll never know what good things are waiting for you :)

Animal Instincts

This weekend was a total whirlwind.  We were so busy with stuff it was Sunday evening before I knew it.  I typically take my outfit photos on Saturday or Sunday at sunset.  Rayna and I had a Girl Scout event from 2-4 pm Sunday after church then we went grocery shopping.  By the time we were heading to the car, the sun was dipping behind the horizon and I realized I’d not taken outfit photos for this week.  So I did what I had to do.  We drove up behind Target, ran through the over grown weeds and prickly burs, and took photos with my phone (so please excuse the quality) with the little bit of daylight that was left.  My poor child got prickly burs stuck in her tights lol.

As I mentioned, we had a Girl Scout event to go to after church.  I didn’t really think through that what I was wearing to church, I’d also have to wear to the event.  Needless to say, I was a tad over dressed.  HAHA  All the other moms were wearing jeans and tshirts.  Oh well.

vest: Shade Clothing (on clearance now, all sizes available!), dress: F21 (old, last seen here), necklace: an old deal of the day site, tights: Sock Dreams, boots: Steve Madden via 6pm.com, ring: Rue21

PS Don’t forget about my Mary Kay Fundraiser for my Mission Trip to ISRAEL!  I *really* need your help!  My goal was to raise $200 and we have a bit to go.  I hope you’ll consider placing an order!  Check out the post here.  Fundraiser ends on Saturday.  Thanks so much!!!

Rock ‘n Roll

February 20, 2013 by Trina 10 Comments

I’ve not been feeling sassy, trendy or stylish lately. Maybe it’s because I feel like my hair is so dark 100% natural. So I decided to ramp up the cool this weekend.

I chose my Rock ‘n Roll sweater I picked up at Kohl’s several months ago and paired them with, of course, ripped jeans and boots. (And yes these are the same jeans from last week. I love them so. They are super comfy.)

I topped it off with some shades, red lipstick and red hair chalk. It sort of looked more pink, and had I applied it to slightly damp hair it would have been darker, but I was pushed for time.

What do you think?

The best part? I wore this to sell cookies at a Girl Scout cookie booth and then to the grocery store. Life is too short to wear yoga pants in public (too often anyway ;) there are exceptions!).

PS Don’t forget to check out my fundraiser I’m hosting for my mission trip to ISRAEL in May! I would really REALLY appreciate your support! :)

I’m going to ISRAEL! (Mary Kay Fundraiser)

February 18, 2013 by Trina 1 Comment

Hi friends!  I’m so excited to share the news of my going to Israel with you!  Over the last 2 years since Jonathan has been in Highlands College we knew he would have to take a missions trip to fulfill a requirement for graduation.  When he told me what trip he’d chosen I knew I wanted to go too.  At the time there were no spots open so I thought it just wasn’t the Lord’s will for me to join him.

Then a spot opened up.

I almost said no because of the money (it’s $3,200/person!) but because the spot opened up, it felt like the Lord was offering me the opportunity to go serve with my husband.  So with that said, my friends, I need your help.

I’ve been thinking of ways to raise money and after my mom and I talked we decided to do a Mary Kay fundraiser! (See the bottom of this post on how to give if you still want to support me but don’t want to order Mary Kay.)

If you already have a consultant, that’s ok.  You can still help me out if you wanted to place one order through this fundraiser.

So this is how it will work:

*You can look through products at my mom’s site here.

*Email her at elneeta_2002@yahoo.com with your order mentioning TRINA-ISRAEL in the subject line and she will get back to you with your total.  Payments can be made via Paypal.

*Orders for this fundraiser will be taken from Monday, Feb 18th through Saturday, Mar 2nd.

*All proceeds will go towards my trip.

To make this a bit more interesting, we decided to add some incentives!

For orders over $100, you will receive this acrylic caddy to hold all your beauty products for FREE.

For orders over $150, you will receive this set of three cosmetic cases for FREE.

And finally ALL orders over $25 will be entered into a drawing to WIN the Complexion Perfection set which includes a full size TimeWise Even Complexion Essence face lotion (1 fl oz) + samplers of the TimeWise microdermabrasion set (step 1 .5 fl oz and step 2 .17 fl oz), valued at $35+  and a Lash Love mascara in black, valued at $15 for a total retail value of $50+.    A winner will be chosen March 3rd and announced here on this post and will be notified by email.

In case you are curious, some of my favorite Mary Kay products are the TimeWise skin care set (lasts about 4 months), the Microdemabrasion set (it lasts a while! got mine 6 months ago, still using it once a week), and the lip gloss in Cafe au Lait.

Also, while I was flipping through the new Trend Report, I fell in love with their limited edition Hollywood Mystique collection featuring two of my favorite colors: teal and red.  The Vintage Vogue look was my favorite (shop the look here):

I thank you in advance for your support!

(To contribute to my trip directly, you can go to my church’s website here, fill out your information -there is an option to make it anonymous – and choose Israel 5/23/13, then select my name from the list of attendees.  I’m the only Trina on the list :))

Valentine’s Day 2013

February 14, 2013 by Trina 1 Comment

I wanted to share the Valentine’s the kids and I did this year.  Nothing super fancy, but I think they’re cute mainly because they have my kids in them ;)

Rayna is obsessed with mustaches so she wanted to incorporate them somehow so we came up with this:

valentine rayna 3

She wasn’t allowed to hand out candy with them, so we just mounted on red cardstock.

I french braided her hair the night before and we took it out right before I took this photo.  She was going for a French look with the striped shirt and beret (which I made a few years ago).

Xander could give out candy so we did this idea and I taped Pop Rocks candy to the back side.

valentine xander 2

And finally, I wanted to share my Valentine’s mani using nail decals I got from Etsy:

The decal lines aren’t noticeable in person ;)

Well that was short and sweet, huh?  Hope your day is full of LOVE!
