Rayna and I did this months ago but I’m just now getting this posted. Hair chalking is all over the internet so I’m sure you’ve seen it before. This was a lot of fun though so I wanted to post our results.
We first tried a pink hair chalk we found at Sally’s. However the packaging was very misleading. It was dome shaped but the actual product was only about as deep as an eyeshadow pan. After 2-3 uses we started hitting the bottom of the pan. So I thought I’d check out some other alternatives. I searched the internet and saw this idea for using art supply soft pastel chalks. {PS How cute is she?! She looks like a mermaid for real.}
I headed to Michael’s and picked up this set with a 40% off coupon via their mobile site.
Rayna already had curls from us doing sponge rollers so we just picked strands and added color to them starting about half way down. She absolutely loved this and I did too. If my hair was longer I would definitely rock some mermaid hair on the weekends haha. Maybe one day I’ll have long locks again… #dreaming.
Anyhoo, this was our result. What do you think?

She looks absolutely adorable! You guys did a great job. My hair is waayy to dark… unless I used yellow or white, and I don’t see that looking good.

Thank you! Yes we tried them on my niece’s dark brown hair and the pink shows up a bit. If you wet the hair a bit the color goes on a bit more saturated.
