I don’t do many DIYs because I mainly just steal borrow other people’s ideas. And I’m sure someone has done this one before, but I’ve not seen it yet so I thought I would share.
I had this grey long sleeved t-shirt that I used to wear under my short sleeved tees a few years ago. I loved the dark grey color and the sleeves had a nice length and cuff to them, but for a layering piece was a lil bit too short. It seemed like I was always pulling the hem down to be long enough.
I’d seen on blogs where people would create a cardigan from an old sweater and I thought I’d try that with this tee. So I put it on and made a chalk line down the center. T-shirts tend to be a bit wonky, so this was a better method than just cutting up what looked like the middle since it could end up crooked.
See what I mean? My chalk lines look crooked, but when the shirt was on my body, this line was straight.
And this is what it looks like on:
And with a white tee and scarf:
This was completely NO SEW. All I did was cut, stretch the cut end so the material would roll in on itself and wear. So literally ANYONE can do this.
I love it! What do you think?

What a great idea! Since having baby #4 many of my tight long sleeve t’s don’t fit. I’m going to try it out.
Just now catching up on your blog. Gosh, it’s taken me 3 months to really read my old favorite blogs.

That made a really cute cardi! Great idea! Maybe I have some long sleeve shirts I can try it out on. Oh, and I love the pics of the kiddo’s at the Bass Pro Shop! We took Weston to the one in Leeds, AL last year to get his pic made with Santa, and it turned out really cute. I loved that it was free too!
