A few more Valentines

February 11, 2009 by Trina Comments Off

I haven’t forgotten about getting a Valentine for my hubs. I just like to wait til almost the last minute and I didn’t want a store bought card either.

Last week I found out that Picnik has a cool new feature called Fancy Collage. It’s a smaller type scale of what you will find on Scrapblog, but it worked for me for this project.

I made a cute Valentine for my hubs which will go inside a piece of cardstock with a hand written love note. (I am NOT a fan of store bought cards. I think a personal note on a hand made card is a much warmer way to express your feelings, whether it be birthday, anniversary, a death, or what have you.)

I think it turned out cute.

I also made a card for Rayna’s school teacher and her dance teacher, that look like this:

If you like this idea and need some last minute Valentines (with photos), this is how you do it.

Sign in or Register @ Picnik and click on Fancy Collage. It should be on the Home page, if not, click the Library tab and it will be there.

Pick the Valentine’s Day Pack 1 (Pack 2 is for Premium members only, which costs $24.95/year) and choose which layout you prefer.

Then upload your photos from your computer (or you can upload from Flickr, Facebook, Photobucket, etc) and drag and drop the picture(s) onto the layout.

Once you have your pictures in place, click Customize. This is where you will add text and/or anything else you would like to add.

On my hubby’s card, I just added text. On the teacher cards I had to add a rounded corner rectangle to layer the text over so it was readable.

After you finish customizing it, click Save and Share and save it to your computer.

From there I uploaded mine to Snapfish and ordered 4×6 prints that I can pick up this afternoon at my local Walgreens.

I have some cardstock I will mount them to so that they are a little more sturdy and will make them look “finished”.

*One thing I do want to mention is I did have to crop them on Snapfish because the layouts were just a tad taller than 4 inches. While creating the card, I just made sure I left enough space at the top and bottom that could be cropped if needed.

These 3 cards only cost me $.57 before tax. I call that Frugalicious indeed :)
